Demanding a higher standard should also mean retaining employees who are physically able to do the job as police officer. There are several people on the department who are very good individuals, but lack the physical ability to carry out their jobs due to injuries, etc. I know more than a few people this would apply to and some of those injuries are not duty related. Some would argue they are taking up a position that could otherwise be held by an able-bodied person.

Yes, I am aware. We should get and retain the best people possible. Unlike a certain recruit in the academy right now that supposedly failed 3 written tests and failed something in firearms. Why are we keeping this person? Well, because downtown said so.
